What should I wear to my ballet class?
It is considered bad etiquette to wear any of your dance wear outside of the studio. Ballet the art form is intended to train your body as well as your character and sense of dignity. You should have all of your dance clothes in your dance bag and change into them once you arrive. Then change out of them before you leave. A serious and dignified dance student does not advertise that she is heading to or coming from dance class by wearing her dance clothes outside of the studio. Nor does she show off by tying her ballet shoes to the outside of her bag. To get the most out of your dance classes you must take the time to prepare for class while you are at the studio. This means you arrive early so you can be calm and focused and warm before plies begin. Part of the process of preparing is transforming from a person on the street to a dance student. This transformation will not be successful if done in the car.
